About
San Marino
Quiet
streets, well-manicured lawns and excellent schools are
a hallmark of this community to the south of Pasadena.
The world-renowned Huntington Library, Art Collections
and Botanical Gardens are found here, as well as one of
the West's most beautiful public parks, Lacy Park.
San
Marino has no apartment buildings, and no industry. Retail
and service shops are located along Huntington Drive. About
47 percent of the homes in San Marino were built before
World War II, and another 45 percent were built between
1940 and 1960. The homes south of Huntington Drive tend
to be "custom tract," and north of Huntington
Drive they tend to be larger and of a higher quality. The
city has an extremely low crime rate, and is considered
one of Southern California's loveliest cities.
